This job involved painting the same stand of trees in the middle of a nearby marsh three times on three big curving walls, differing from each other only in the season being represented. I was painting on-site in midsummer and could take a few minutes to drive over to study the actual site as it appears then, but I had to rely on photos and a lot of verbal input from staffers who knew the flora and fauna intimately in order to accurately represent the colors and the right collection of water fowl for winter and spring; bird populations there are radically different from one season to the next. It was an arduous but very enlightening experience.
